tori omega arthur

Tori Arthur is a visiting assistant professor in the television journalism program of WVUs Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism where she teaches television news writing and beginning television reporting.

She comes from the Washington, D.C., metro area, bringing with her nearly 10 years of electronic media, news writing and communications experience. As a broadcast journalist, Arthur has worked for local and national news organizations. She has also worked as a creative writer and editor and as a strategic communications specialist for a government agency.

In 2006, Arthur received a masters degree in creative writing from American University in Washington, D.C. She received a bachelors degree in electronic media production from James Madison University in 1999.

After college, Arthur worked as an associate producer at WDBJ 7, the CBS affiliate in Roanoke, Va. From there, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she became TVDirect producer for CONUS Communications, a satellite news-gathering organization that provided coverage for more than 100 local stations, television networks and news organizations across the country. As TVDirect Producer, Arthur covered many government agencies, including the state department, Pentagon and justice department. She also produced CONUSs major daily news feed. Shortly after 9-11, Arthur became the White House Independent Pool Producer, working with C-SPAN, Reuters TV and APTN to provide television coverage of the first George W. Bush Administration.

During and after graduate school, Arthur worked as a freelance producer and creative writer and editor for a television news organization and upstart magazine, respectively. Immediately prior to coming to WVU, she worked as a strategic communications specialist for a government contractor that provided communications support for a directorate within a U.S. military organization.

Tori's creative work has appeared in Words Beats Life and Mourning Katrina anthology.
