Leola Dublin Macmillan is a Doctoral Candidate in American Studies at Washington State University. A North Carolina native, Dublin Macmillan was raised in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. She received a B.A. in English from the University of the District of Columbia. Her scholarly work examines the connections between contemporary representations of Black women, and more specifically, Black women's bodies and the larger structures of power within the context of the United States. Her work articulates these connections and then explores their potential impact on identity development in Black adolescent girls.
